REPARATION FOR AMERICA.
ASSURANCE BY ALLIES. ALL HER RIGHTS RESEF.VED. FRANCE AND HER DEBTS. Bj Telegraph—Frees AssocUtion-Copyrteht (Received 7.30 p.m.) A. and N.Z. NEW YOKK. M»rch 14. The Washington correspondent of the New York Times states that the- Doited States has been assured by the Allies that all American rights to compensation for the military occupation of Germany ont of German reparation payments have been reserved. Thus reports that the Allies intended to disregard the Dnited States io apportioning occupational charges out of Germany's latest reparation instalment are proven to be unfounded. The correspondent of the New York Times interviewed the French Prime Minister, M. Poincare, who declared that the position of Franca in regard to her war debts to the United States was simple. What Frauce owed she did not wish and did not intend to repudiate. She would pay when she could. If as a consequence of future developments the United States would renounce her right to those payments, France would acknowledge such a decision with gratitude, but she was not basing her policy on such an eventuality.
