CORNWALL PARK RATING.
EFFECT OF THE NEW ACT.
MR. MASSEY'S OPINION.
The probable efTert of the new Valuation of Land Amendment Act was again brought under the notice of the One Tree Hill Road Board last evening, when a reply was received from the Prime Minister to the board's communications on the subject. The bofjd complained that under the new Act a reduction would necessarily bo made in the rating value of Cornwall Park, the trustees of which pay more than £1200 a year in rates to the board.
Mr. Massey stated that in making a valuation of the park a reduction on the assessment of the capital and improved value of the land and of the assessed interests therein, would be made to the extent by which such value was reduced by reason of the limited and restricted purposes to which the land was applied. Until the valuation of the park had been made it would be impossible to sayjvhether the new ratable value would reduce the existing value to an appreciable ex tent.
The letter was referred to the Legal and Finance Committee.
