WELLINGTON.- Wednesday. Inquiries were made to-day regarding a report telegraphed from Auckland that the Department of Agriculture had accepted a specific for fire blight, discovered by a Wairongomai farmer. The authorities here, including the Minister for Agriculture and the official head of the department, stated to-day that they did not understand the report. They were not aware that any Waikato farmer had a remedy for fire blight and, in any case, no "new scheme for dealing with the blight or with the hawthorn question had been adopted.
