STATUS OF AVONDALE.
PROPOSAL TO FORM BOROUGH COMMISSION APPOINTED. A commission has been appointed to hear evidence for and against a proposal to constitute Avondale a borough instead of a road district as. at present. Information to this effect has been received byMr. G. F. Hosking, formerly chairman of the Road Board., from the Hon. C. J. Parr, member fqr the district, to whom an extensively signed petition of ratepayers praying for the constitution of a borough was forwarded for presentation to the authorities. A counter-petition had also been circulated. The commission is comprised of Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., chairman, and Messrs. R. P. Greville, commissioner of Crown lands, and J. B. Wallace, Government district valuer. The chairman will announce the date of the sitting of the commission in due course.
