11 i FAREWELL TO CIVILISATION. e e a DEPARTURE LAST WEEK. 3 A. and N.Z. LONDON. Dec. 23. Mr. J. L. Cope, who is heading an expedition to the Antarctic, has cabled that he -expected to leave Port Stanley, Falkland Islands, on December 20, with a full equipment and the necessary dogs for sledge work. He hoped to land on Graham Land on Christmas Day. The -party was I all well. The cable concluded:—"Expect - j to hear from us in 18 months." f i
