ATTACK ON Y.M.C.A.

„ ROMAN CATHOLIC HOSTILITY. 3 I AN INQUIRY BY BISHOPS. 8.30 p.m.) , Reuter. ROME. Dec. 23. s The Young Men's Christian Association t has been attacked in a decree by the Holy Office asking bishops to watch organisations which, " while professing " 6 absolute freedom of thought in religious matters, instil indifferentism and apostacy to the Catholic religion in the minds of s its adherents." The decree mentions the Y.M.C.A., which, it states, is upheld by many Roman Catholics who are ignorant of its real nature. The decree declares that it corrupts the faith of vouths, and recalls the canon law which forbids papers, periodicals, and organisations favouring religious rationalism. It requests bishops to communicate to the Holy See • within two months, and' a decision will be taken at regional congresses on the subject.
