EARTHQUAKE IN CHINA.

The correspondent of the United Press ' of America at Shanghai states that it is reported that 2000 lives were lost in an earthquake in the Kansu Province, in North-we,st China. The first shock occurred on December 16, and the earthquake is still continuing. Several towns have been demolished.
