THE CITY WATER SUPPLY.
RESULTS OF ANALYSIS. Samples of the water taken from the Newton and Khyber Pass reservoirs at the time when the mains were flushed out recently, are being analysed by the district health officer, Dr. T. J. Hughes. " He stated yesterday that present indicationsare that the water from the latter reservoir is satisfactory, but he is? not yet satisfied with the condition of that from the Newton source. He was not prepared, therefore, to advise the relaxation of precautions, and recommended that all water supplied to the low-lying portions of Pamell, Central City, Freeman's Bay, and Ponsonby, should be boiled before "being used for household purposes in connection with food or drink. In all probability, said Dr. Hughes, the quality of the water now flowing through the mains had improved since they were flushed out, and since the Western Springs supply ceased. He was continuing to take samples for analysis. '
