DAVIS CUP CONTEST.
HOLLAND DEFEATS S. AFRICA.
FRANCE TO PLAY U.S.A. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 10.30 p.m.) LONDON. Juna 13. Holland defeated South Africa in the first round of the Davis Cup contest. The singles resulted in a tie, each winning a match. Holland then won tho deciding match. Raymond was unable to represent South Africa owinr,' to an accident. France and the United States will play their round at Eastbourne on July 8. The Daily Telegraph states that Lieu-tenant-Colonel Kingscote and leading tennis officials regard as objectionable the proposal to select R. Lycett, the former Australian player, to represent the British Isles in the Davis Cup team.
