SIR J. WARD AND LABOUR.

Q7JESTION OF CABINET RANK. tflB? TELEGRAPHOWN CORRESPONDENT.] ( MAETINBOROUGH. Monday. The Leader of the Opposition, Sir Joseph Ward, practically told his audience at Martinboroueh to-night that he intends, if returned to office, to offer Cabinet ■ rank to Mr. W. A. Veitch, who represented Wanganui in the last Parliament. ; He declared that in order to Keep indus- , trial peace there must be representation 'of moderate Labour in the Cabinet, The direct actionists, he said, were too ex- ! treme for him, and their policy was in his opinion unsafe for the country. Then he went on to eulogise Mr. Veitch, declaring him to be a sane, industrious member of Parliament. If returned to power, he said he would offer Ministerial rank " to a man of that stamp."
