THE SOLDIERS' DISPUTE.
SETTLEMENT OF TROUBLE. ANNOUNCEMENT OF TERMS. HAPPY RELATIONS RESTORED. A general meeting of the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association was held in the Town Hall concert chamber last evening. The attendance T »"as small. Mr. G. Eliott presided. A report for the half-year stated that the membership had increased from 4459 in March last, to 11,203 on October 31. Mr. E. W. inder reported on the work of the recent conference. Thief interest centred in his references to the dispute between the Auckland District Committee and the Auckland Association on the one side, and the headquarters of the association on the other. He said the dispute had been settled on the following terms:—That headquarters should hand over the moneys to the Auckland district committee unconditionailv, and- that Auckland should withdraw the writ and express its wiilineness to fall in with headquarters in regard to any further legislation on the matter of district fur.dp. The result of tiie conference he concluded, had been to create most amicable feelings between Auckland and Wellington. j _ Mr. R. Aldricb, secretary to the Wel- | lington association and treasurer to headquarters, addressed the meeting. He spoke I of the achievements of the association and j the need of unity, pointing out that for j years the interests Of the returned men I had to be carefully watched.
