Major Acton Adams and Mrs. Adams left for the South by last evening's train. Dr. R. H. Makgill, Acting-Chief Health Officer, is expected to arrive in Auckland to-morrow. Mr. W. E. Bush, city engineer, is re« turning to New Zealand in the Ruapehu, which left London last Monday. Mr. A. Wyllie, city electrical engine??, was last evening accorded a vote of condolence by the City Council in respect to the death of his wife, which occurred last Saturday. Mr. G. B. Dall, assistant-secretary to the Post and Telegraph Department, "who succeeded Major Holdsworth in charge of the postal arrangements of the New Zea- ■ land Expeditionary Force in London, has I returned to Wellington. I Mr. William Roy, acting clerk to the ' Bruce County Council, has been an- ' pointed town clerk of Milton. Mr. L. W. Potter, the former county clerk, who relinquished the duties for active service, will resume tbe position early next month. Mr. H. B. Gray, who has been chief accountant for the Wellington Meat Export Company for 12 years, ha.« Wen ! appointed general manager of the Tarai nftki Farmers' Meat Company, in succes- ! sion to Mr. J.
