THE TAINUI INQUIRY.
FURTHER EVIDENCE HEARD. ENGINEER'S PREMONITION. [BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The nautical inquiry into the loss by fire of the coastal steamer Tainui at Gore Bay on September 16, by which eight members of the crew lost their lives, was continued at Lyttelton to-day. Claude Ferrier stated that the benzine from the schooner Caroline, which was loaded into the Tainui, was in good condition, except about 45 cases. Peter Carmichael deposed that Greenwood (the engineer) had a premonition thai something was going to happen to the Tainui.
