BUSINESS DONE YESTERDAY. A fair amount of business was transacted yesterday on the sharemarket, investment stocks being in demand. In banks Commercials (pref.) were wanted at £6 13s 6d, no sellers quoting. New Zealands were offered at £15 without response, while offers of £61 for Unions > failed to attract sellers. In insurances [ New Zealands were quoted, buyers 32s 6d, sellers 335. South British, sellers i £9 9s, and Standards, sellers 6Us 6d. In i coals a sale of Westports at 32s 3d was : reported, other buyers offering 31s 9d. ' In shipping a sale of Devonport Steam Ferrys was reported at 28s, the closing quotations being buyers 27s 6d, sellers 1 '<±8s 3d. There was a demand for Hud-dart-Parkers at 46s 6d, sellers 4 is. ', P. and 0. (deferred stock) was wanted, • buyers offering £640, sellers £655. In woollens a sale of Kaiapois was reported at £9 2s 6d, further buyers offering £9 without response.
