A POSTAL JOURNEY.
! Sir,Th<i distance from Waipu post I office to N'laumraturot-o post office is 14 i miles. There is a good coach road, traI -veiled by numerous motor care, through- | out the greater part of th» year. There is a -weekly mail service, by train, to and from Maunpaturoto-Auckland, by way of Ranganui—three miles from .Vlaungaturoto. Should a roan in Waipti . address a letter to another in Maungatrroto, 14 miles distant, the letter (if posted) takes the following journey: By coach from Waipu to Marsden Point (12 1 miles) ; by launch from wharf to steam- ' v ip: by steamship to Auckland wharf [ ("30 miles) : thence to Auckland office, and on to Auckland railway station: thence by train (via Helensvills), to Ranganui . '86 miles), and finally, by coach, to Maungatoroto. One hundred and ninety- ' two miles altogether. Nobody in Waipu 3 seems able to explain the reason of this roundabout, arrangement for the carriage 1 of local correspondence. 1 W*.KI>KBJvR. : October 13. 1919. 3
