PARTY POLITICS.
! i Sir,—As your correspondent Mr. ill j I J. Sbeehan points out, Mr. Nosworthv ! 1 made a mistake in saving (if he did say") i ' I would not support a ministry which I had in it a Roman Cathol c." Aj a : politician, he ought to have been more j diplomatic. He might have said he ! would not support any ministry which, j j was not pledged to stand firm by our ; rational system of education as it now j is, free, secular, and compulsory, with | liberty to anybody who wishes to impose i denominational teaching upon education i t-o pay for both, out of their own pockets, ! Had he put it that way he would have | said all that was necessary, he would j have given as much offence to Mr. i Sheahan, but he would not have provided i that astute partisan with an opportunity ! to present to the public a caricature of j himself, as an Tip holder and missioner of | tolerance.
