Sir, —As all reforms have been fought in the face of rebuffs, the noble men and I -women who take part in the movement B towards the emancipation of 'women, do not expect their cause to be an exception to the ruie. The germ of the movement } has been present from the dawn of history, from the days when the early Qhristion fathers denied women the possession oi a souL Tracing the progress of the s movement, and' noting the social, legal, ' and economic changes regarding woman's 1 7 osition, we learn that the slightest de--0 gree of development has always to com- ' &nt with hostile forces. Susan Anthony 3 was scorned, rebuked, and accused of degrading her sex to the level of man because she attempted to speak in public.
