POSTAL DISCONTENT.
NON-PAYMENT OF BONUS. PROTEST FROM WANGANUI. [BT TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WANGANUI, Thursday. A meeting of the Wanganui branch of the Post and Telegraph Officers' Association to-night strongly protested against the Postmaster-General's recent proposal regarding the war bonus. The association resolved •" That this proposal is iniquitous, and unfair to officers whose salaries were increased in accordance with the values and merits of their set vice. Furthermore, the fact of the Government now proposing to grant a bonus to certain officers substantiates the contention of members of the service that when the delayed reclassification of the service was finally granted the continual rise in the cost of living was not taken into full consideration, as was the case when other branches of the public service were reclassified. " This meeting is also of opinion that the promise made regarding the war bonus by the previous Postmaster-General should be considered binding upon his successor in office."
FEELING IN CHRISTCHURCH. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHUECH, Thursday. Tho North Canterbury Post and Telegraph Officers' Association passed tne following resolution to-night:—"That this section protests against the action of the Cabinet in not paying the full bonus, notwithstanding the fact that the association received a distinct affirmative statement concerning its payment by Sir Joseph Ward prior to his going to England .
