SOLDIERS AS FARMERS.
TRAINING AT RUAKURA. BUILDINGS TO BE ERECTED. In connection with the proposal of the Auckland District Repatriation Board to provide means of training returned soldiers in agricultural pursuits on unimproved land, the Director of Repatriation. Mr. J. Samson, has advised the board that he had referred the question to the Minister for Lands and the Director-Gen-eral of Agriculture. At the same time Mr. Samson expressed his approval of the scheme, and stated" that he would do what he could to expedite, its consideration. He also stated that in view of the number of disabled soldiers, particularly in the Auckland district, who were anxious to take courses at the Ruakura State, farm of instruction, he had obtained the sanction of the Ministerial Board to erect additional accommodation immediately at a cost of about £3000.
