TAKAPUNA TRAM SERVICE.
ACTION AGAINST COMPANY.
COUNCIL AS PLAINTIFF.
A special meeting of the Takapuna Borough Council in connection with the tram and ferry services was held in the council chambers last evening, Mr. R. Biss presiding in the absence., of the Mayor, Mr. W. Blomfield.
The borough solicitors forwarded an opinion as to whether it would be advisable for the council to join with the Milford ratepayers in their Supreme Court action against the Takapuna Tramways and Ferry Company. This was considered in committee.
Subsequently a motion was unanimously carried, endorsing the action of tha Milford residents in commencing the action, and instructing the solicitors to brief counsel to conduct, the case on behalf of the local body as plaintiff, and take the leading part in the proceedings. It was also decided to make a special effort to have the case heard at the earliest possible date. A further decision was that the expenses incurred by the Milford residents in commencing the action be reimbursed by the council. The appointment of a committee to go into the matter of the purchase of the trams and ferry boat was deferred until the next ordinary meeting of the council.
