ARRIVAL IN AUCKLAND.
NOW MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22.
CHANGES IN PROGRAMME.
The date of Lord Jellicoe's arrival at Auckland has been altered from Sunday, September 21, to the evening of Monday, September 22. This advice was received last evening by the Deputy-Mayor, Mr A. J. Entrican, in a telegram from Mr. V- M. Wilson, who is accompanying the admiral on behalf of the New Zealand Tourist Department.
The telegram, despatched from Christchurch, stated : —"Owing to a change in the arrangements, the New Zealand will not reach Auckland until -Monday night, September 22, and it is suggested that all fixtures proposed for Monday be deferied until Tuesday." The message then stated that the following programme for entertainment at Auckland had been approved bv the admiral'-
Tuesday. September 25.—-Civic and Harbour Board receptions in the morning; veterans' visit, with address, and Victoria League "At home" to Lady Jellicoe in afternoon ; citizens' Wll at night. ednesday, September 24.—Inspection of Calliope Dock and unveiling of Sanders memorial in morning; "At home" at the Auckland Club in the afternoon ; naval and military and garrison officers' ball iii the evening. Thursday, September 25-Garden party by Missions to Seamen in afternoon; evening free Thursday, October 2.—Northern Club ball.
( . " It appears." continued the telegram, " that on account of the alteration in the dates, most of the other functions proposed will have to be abandoned so far as Admiral and Lady Jellicoe are concerned. The invitation for officers and men to the Avondale races on Saturday, September 27, will remain a fixture. The admiral will be in Auckland on October 2 and 3, and will leave on the evening of the latter date. Kindly telegraph if this proposed time-table will meet your wishes." Mr. Entrican stated that the alteration in the date of the admiral's arrival would alter the Auckland arrangements very considerably, and in order to consider the position he had called r. meeting of the executive at the Chamber of Commerce at 3.30 p.m. to-day.
VISIT TO TAKAPUNA.
MEETING OF RESIDENTS." Arrangements for the entertainment of Admiral Jellicoe on his visit to Takapuna to unveil the Sanders Memorial were made at a special meeting of ratepayers held in the Council Chambers last evening. The Mayor, Mr. W. Biomfield, presided. Several committees were formec to control the various forms of entertainment, and a letter was received from the Ratepayers' Association, offering all possible help in the matter. A resolution pledging support of any arrangements made by the Borough Council for the reception of Lord Jellicoe was passed at the meeting convened by the Takapuna Ratepayers and Residents' Association last evening to discuss the tramway service. The chairman, Mr. E. E. Grimwade, said it was unfortunate that the meeting clashed with that held by the Borough Council to make arrangements for the visit of Lord Jellicoe. Mr. A. M. Gould said the association resolved upon the meeting two or three weeks ago, and there was no spirit of competition on its . part. j CITIZENS' BALL IN OHRI3TCHTJROH. A BRILLIANT FUNCTION. [BY TELEGRAPH. OW.V COKRESFONTrEN?.] CHRISTCHTTKCH, Tuesday Lord Jellicoe had a quiet day, and his only public appearance was at the citizens' ball to-night, which was a very ; brilliant function.
