SOLDIERS AT VARIANCE.

ASSOCIATION CONTROL. NO CHANGE IN POSITION.

DEVELOPMENTS EXPECTED.

In respect to the trouble which has occurred between the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association and the New Zealand Association, to which it is affiliated, there is nothing fresh to report. It had been stated that the executive of the Auckland Association would probably decide upon further action laet evening, but the subject was not mentioned at the meeting.

There is, however, every reason for believing that the breach is just as wide, if not wider, and according to rumour there may be somewhat dramatic developments at any time. The organiser of the Wellington Provincial Committee has been in Auckland, and while he has not approached either the city association or the provincial committee it is understood thai hie visit was not unconnected with the present dispute. If that be so no oil has been poured on the troubled waters. The position, as previously stated, is that the Auckland and other northern associations are withholding moneys due to headquarters until the central body hands over to the Auckland Provincial Committee unconditionally, the capitation of 2s i a member voted to it by conference. In the meantime the Provincial Committee is without funds. Its share of the city contributions to headquarters is understood to exceed £600. It is understood that the city association intends to firmly I stand its ground, in which event an, open rupture is almost certain to follow. The opinion locally is that headquarters baa acted in an unconstitutional manner in the matter, and has ignored the clear instructions of the conference.
