VANCOUVER, Aug. 2. By the end of this year the Canadian Government will have 20 ships, with a total net tonnage of 100,000 tons, operating in the Noith Atlantic and West Indian trade. Tie voyages made by the seven steamers already in commission have been very profitable, and the Government looks hopefully toward October, 1920, by which time if there be any abatement in the labour troubles constantlv holding up thi* important industry, it is honed that it v ill ha-e completed its present objective of 300.000 tons.
