FORWARD MOVE IN BRITAIN. EIGHT-HOUR DAY PENDING. 5 Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 10.20 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 7. The Minister for Labour, Sir R. S. Home, has promised to bring down a Bill before the recess dealing with the recommendations of the committees of the National Industrial Council: As the result of a conference held in the middle of June, between Sir Robert Home and the committees of the National Industrial Council, representing employers and workers, the Government agreed to introduce legislation fixing a forty-eight-hour week as the maximum for industrial and commercial occupations, and also establishing minimum wages.
