Thnr«d»y, Deaths from influenza in Wellington hospitals during the 24 hours ended noon yesterday totalled three. Two hospitals have been closed. Telegrams from country districts indicate a rapid abatement of .the epidemic. Doctors and medical students will be removed to mora infected areas for work, especially among Maoris. The Waterside WoTkors' Union has decided to resume night work as soon as the suburban trains recommence running at night. As the trains start to-morrow, conditions on the waterfront should soon be normal. The tramway system is quite normal, practically the whole staff having returned to work. Another gratifying feature la that the number of passengers is also normal.

CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday. The influenza is abating elowly. During the 24 hour* ended at noon thero were seven admissions to the hospital and one death. Thaw are 131 cases still in the hospital.

DUNEDIN. Thursday.

The. influenza position shows a great improvement to-day. There havo been 11 admiesioni to. the public hospital in 24 hours, and the number of deaths is small. Dr. Bowl*!, acting-medical (superintendent, said if ills restrictions locally had been left till njuct week he would have Definable to let patients go with 6ome kind of confidence.

Press Association reports from several centres in the North and South Islands show that the improvement is general throughout the Dominion, very few new cases, all of mild type, being recorded.
