NELSON COMPENSATION CLAIM, [BT. TELEGRArn.-FRESS association.] NELSON, Friday. The Compensation Court, composed of Mr. Justico Chapman and two assessors, concluded the hearing of the case of Richard* son v. the City Council to-day. Tho corporation, two years ago, acquired under the Public Works Act pieces of land on the banks of the Maitai River for bathing and picnicking purposes, the land being portion of the Maitai Estate. The owners now claimed compensation, assessing the valuo of the land, under several headings, at a total of £6868 16s 6d. After a lengthy hearing of evidence, the Court awarded claimants £995.
