PATRIOTIC APPEAL.
AUCKLAND WOMEN'S WORK. CANVASS OF THE CITY. A meeting of the Auckland Women's Patriotic League to discuss the canvassing of the city ?nd suburbs in connection with the campaign to raise £25,000 was held in the council chambers yesterday morning. The Soldiers' Gifts Men's Committee, of which Mr. A. B. Roberton is "chairman, and Mr. P. H. Upton deputychairman, were present. The canvassing of the city and suburbs is to commence on Monday, April 8, and already satisfactory progress has been made i in organisation. The city has been divided into blocks placed in charge of leaders, who will each organise their own district. The suburbs will be organised by the respective Mayoresses. Offers of assistance in the work of canvassing will be received by the league, and a meeting will be held on Friday next, when further arrangements will be made. At the shop yesterday a splendid exhibition was given of tho work of the Literary Committee. Books donated by the public are put through a thorough renovation process before being sent to the men at the front or in hospital.
