TAKAPUNA COUNCIL
The Takapuna Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. W. Blomfiold, presiding. It was decided to draw the attention of the Devonport Borough Council to reported numerous leaks on its water mains between Belmont and Clifton. -' In connection with a complaint from Mr. K. 'Wallace, that there was a lack of postal facilities in tho vicinity of Moana Avenue, the Mayor stated that the PostmasterGeneral, Sir Joseph Ward, had that day given him a promise that he would try to provide more adequate postal facilities for this locality. The dog registration fees for 1918 wore fixed at 2s 6d for cattle dogs, and Ss for all other dogs. Mr. Martin Quinn was appointed dog registrar. The annual report of the Library Committee stated that last year the number of subscribers had increased to 85. New books to the number of 148 had been bought, at a cost of £22, and there werenow 1940 books in the library. It was intended to expend in new books the sum of £16 now in hand.
