RAIN IN AUCKLAND.

JUNE FALL OVER AVERAGE. VERY WET HALF-YEAR. The Auckland rainfall for June, as recorded in the Albert .Vark observatory by the official observer, Mr. F. A. F. Buinctt, ■ totalled 5.41 in, or three-quarters of an inch above the average for that month, which is 4.66 in. The maximum fall for any 24 hours, 1.55 in, was for the period ended at 9 a.m. on Saturday last. Rain fell on 19 days of the month. During the first nine days there was no measurable fall. The total for the month was 89 points less than in June last year, when the register was 6.50 in. Tho highest rainfall ever recorded in Auckland in June was 10.41 in in 1889. The minimum for the month was 1.47 m in 1891, and also in 1913. The total fall for the fin,t six months of the present year hw been 41.96 in, or 18.44 in more than the aggregate for tho corresponding period of 1916, and more than the combined totals of the first six months of 1916 and 1914. The total fall recorded' at the Albert Pavk observatory in this period amounts to over lin more than that for the whole of each of the 24 months ended June 30, 1916. It exceeds the record for the 12 months ended June, 1916, by no less than 35.91 in.
