Smeeton, of Auckland Loyal Held Artillerv, has been promoted captain. He is only 21 years of age. Gunner F. ,J. Munro, "late "of the staff 1 n v }.aLAND Hkraj.d, who juii.ed the Ro\al Garrison Artillery as a gunner at the outbreak of the war, is now in London alter 18 months' Active service. He was recommended for a commission for gallantry on the fieFd, and now is gazetted as a lieutenant. Lieutenant H. D. Williams, of the Auckland Mounted Rifles, who is now attached to the Royal Flying Corp-, has been pro moted observer, as has also Second-Lieuten-ant E. T. Shand, who was transferred from the Otago Mounted Rifles to a commission in the Royal Flying Corps. Lieutenant I*. E. \ . Seddon, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, is a reluctant patient at the No. 2 London General Hospital, suffering from an injured knee incurred while playing football behind the front. Second-Lieutenant J. E. Histed, R.F.C., Auckland, is confirmed in his appointment, and is now a flying officer. Mr. W. Cecil Leys, Auckland, has returned to England from Salonika, where he has been driving a motor-ambulance for some months past. He hopes to be appointed to duty in France. Mr. H. Erlam, who left New Zealand with the main body and was given a commission in the Imperial Army after being wounded in Gallipoli, is now at Salonika. Mr. Erlam served for 14 years I in the Royal Navy, and has the Persian Gulf medal.

Mr. J. H. Beamish, late of Auckland, has tor some time been managing War Office contracts for the firm of Messrs. E. C. Brittain and Company. Mr. Reginald Boyne, Auckland, has for the last 18 months been engaged on war work, and is now engaged on the manufacture of aeroplanes.
