A semi-official Italian report states:—"After fighting from Thursday to Saturday, the Italians on the Carso plateau captured important positions between Vippacco, east of Gorz, and the sea. x " Four thousand prisoners were taken."

(Received 1.80 a.m.) AMSTERDAM, Sept. 18.

An Austrian communique states: —"The Italians continue their attacks day and night, but our front has not been shaken. South-east of Doherdo Lake the enemy continually brought fresh troops. They penetrated our lines. Fighting at close quarters tiyned in our favour."
