BATTLES IN GALICIA.

RUSSIA'S HEAVY BLOWS. AUSTRIAN NARRATIVE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 1.30 a.m.) AMSTERDAM. Septembor 18 An Austrian communique states: " The Russians have made extraordinary efforts, without success, to break the allied line. Superior forces attacked south-west of Dorna Watra, between Mount Kappul and Czernahora, and south-west of Brzezany, and were everywhere repulsed- Numerous waves of troops, including reinforced Guards, attempted a master-stroke at Lutsk. Most of the attacks broke down. Where they were successful, our counter-attacks threw them out of the captured positions."
