SIR RIDER HAGGARD.
VISIT TO AUCKLAND.
See Ridee Haggard arrived in Auckland yesterday morning by the Main Trunk express, in progress of a tour of the British Dominions in an honorary capacity as the representative of the Royal Colonial Institute, to inquire into the avenues for the settlement on the land of soldiers and sailors after the war. He is accompanied by his private secretary, Mr. A. R. Corbett, and is staying at the Northern Club. On Saturday afternoon Sir Rider visited the Salvation Army social institutions, and yesterday morning attended a memorial service at St. Mary's Cathedral to the late Lord Kitchener and the officers and men who perished in the North Sea fight. He will be tendered a complimentary luncheon at 1 p.m. to-day by the president and directors of the Auckland Young Men's Christian Association, and during the afternoon will be taken a motor trip to Titirangi, this being arranged by the DeputyMayor, Mr. A. J. Entricani The Auckland Fellows of the Royal Colonial Institute, London, will give a banquet 10 Sir Rider Haggard this evening, at the Star Hotel." Sir Rider Haggard will leave by the next steamer for Canada and England.
