THAMES HOSPITAL BOARD.
[BY TELEGRAPH— CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Sunday. At the monthly meeting of the Thames Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, Mr, W. J. McCormick presiding, the report of the resident surgeon gave the number of patients as 33 males and 23 females, 52 males and 34 females having been admitted during the month, and .47 males and 34 females discharged. -Three deaths had . occurred, respectively * from senile decay, nephritis, and heart failure following on diphtheria. The report of the superintendent of the district homes gave the number of inmates as 22 males and four females, three males having been admitted and one transferred to the hospital for treatment. The board appointed the chairman as delegate on the Thames Jubilee Celebration Committee. The opinion was expressed that the celebration should be postponed until after the war. Tenders for supplies for the year were received, the following being the successful tenderers Groceries and bread, W. Scott; meat, Bateman Bros.; milk, G. Cribb; coal, 'firewood, and conveyances, J. Hawkes; funerals, R. Twentyman. • Considerable discussion took place on the question of the shortage of doctors. It was pointed out that, owing to the illness of Doctors Derrick and Hyde, the hospital doctor had to attend to the whole district. It was finally resolved to write to Dr. Valintine asking for assistance in securing the services of another doctor for the district as soon as possible.
