TEACHERS' CONFERENCE

THE Catholic Teachers' conference was continued in the Vermont Street School, Ponsonby, yesterday. In the morning ft model lecture, was delivered on the teaching of reading to infant elates- A demonstration lesson in nature study for infant classes was given, and a model class in English was also taken. In the afternoon lessons in singing and phonics, and writing for early standards, were given The question of imparting such knowledge a.', would be of use to the children in their future vocations was discussed at length. The conference also has under consideration the formation of a Catholic Teachers' Institute for the Auckland Province. A cumber of the clergy were present yesterday, and participated in tho proceedings. The session will conclude this evening at 6t. Mary's Convent.
