SOLDIERS' WRITING PADS.

In O.tober last, states the Ashburton Guardian, Master Roy Emerson, of Ashburton. aged eight years, wrote to General Sir Alexander Godley, forwarding two writing pads, and asked him to give them to two soldiers at GaJlipoli who were without writing material. Last week the lad received the following reply from General Godley, dated Gallipoli. November ■" Thanks, very much tor .---tiding writing pads for soldiers. I will giv c them to two if them the next time 1 visit the trenches. I am sure, thev will appreciate your gifts. 1 am so please,] that you thought ot jour New Zealand soldiers. '
