DISTRICT RECRUITING.
LAST WEEK'S PERCENTAGES. NORTH ISLAND 70.32 OF lOTAL. [BT TELEGRAPH. — rRESS ASSOCIATION - .] Wellington, Monday. Figures showing the percentage of recruits contributed by each of the four military districts for the week ended January 8 were issued by the Defence Department to-day. They show that the Southern districts are still failing to pro- i vide full quotas of recruits, though both Canterbury and Otago have made slight improvement in this respect. The North
Island contributed 70.32 per cent, of the total number of recruits, although its quota on the basis of the number of men of military age was only 60.8 per cent. The percentages of registrations for the week were as follows, the figures for the week ended December 25 being shown for the purposes of comparison — ' I I
The district percentages were as follows for men passed as fit or still on the list to bo medically examined, the previous week's figures being also given — MOUNTED RIFLES.
