COST OF LIVING.

BUTTER DEARER AGAIN.

ADVANCE OF ONE PENNY.

DUE TO HIGH EXPORT VALUE.

Ax advance of one penny per pound Trill be made to-day in the wholesale price of standard brands of factory butter, which will now be Is 4d per lb. The retail price will be Is 6d per lb.

The last change in the price was made on August 18 when, in view of the delivery of supplies of the new season's butter the price was reduced by 2d per lb. The cost of pounding and of "distribution is estimated at Id per lb, and in normal times that addition is made to the export value to fix the wholesale price. The present value of butter for export is Is 3£d, or a little more, sales being made on that basis for October shipments.
