Mr, G. P. Finlay, solicitor, of Te Kuiti, is staying at the Star Hot-cL

Mr. G. H. M. McClure, Commissioner °f_ Crown Lands for the Southland district, has received notice of his promotion to the position of Commissi of Crown Lands and chief surveyor in Wellington. He will be succeeded by Mr. H. D. M. Haszard, commissioner for the" Westiand district.

The Rev. G. A. liavm. chaplain-captain of the hospital ship Tahiti, and formerly assisTant-curate at St. Sepulchre's Church, is paying a flying * isii to Auckland prior to returning to Ecrvpt. He is staving at St. j Sepulchre's Vicarage. Khybe'r Pass Koad and will preach at St. (ieorce'j, Kin island, to-morrow morning and at St Sepulchre's in the evening. ' He leaves Auckland on Monday for Wellington.

-Captain Kinsrton Fvffe of Wellington. who left with the" fourth reinforcements. was a patient in the Xew Zealand General Hospital in Cairo early in August. Writing on August S. he explained that he had been invalided with an attack of dysentery. and had previously undergone an operation for i he' removal of a bullet. He stated that he was getting along as well as he could expect.
