OUTBREAKS OF FIRE.
HOUSE BURNT DOWN.
A fire occurred at about 4 a_m. yesterday in a six-roomed house situated at the corner of Claremont Street and Carlton Gore Road, occupied by Mr. W. Massey. The barking of a dog awakened Mr. Massey. and on investigation he found that the diningroom was on fire. The city and Newmarket brigades were summoned, but by the time the outbreak was under control three rooms were gutted. The contents were insured in the South British Office for £100.
A fire occurred at Mount Roskill on Thursday night in a six-roomed house situated at the corner of Pah Road and Torrence Street, owned by Messrs. Whitefield and Emanuel, and occupied by Mr. F. G. Tapp. The fir© was discovered by Mr. Henry Camplin, a resident of Torrence Street. The Onehunga Fire Brigade was quickly on the scene, but the house was completely destroyed, together with the contents" The origin of the outbreak is unknown. The tenants had been absent from home for some days, and Mrs. Tapp states that when she left everything was safe. The house ■was, insured in the National Office for £440. The furniture is also believed to haUd fceen insured, fe? £100. . * " .
