NEW POSTAL CHARGES.
OPERATION NEXT WEEK. FRAMING ORDER-IX-COUXCTL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT. ] Wellington, FridaT. The Postmaster-General, Sir Joseph ard, interviewed to-day. stated that the preparation of the Order-in-ConncQ authorising higher postal and telegraphic rates by way of war taxation was almost completed, but some of the readjustments required were not yet finished. He thought that the amended scale would be gazetted early next week, and the new charges would come into operation immediately it was gazetted. Sir Joseph said that this would apply to practically all of the alterations of the postal and telegraphic ' rates of which notice had been given.
