MINING NEWS.
NEW SYLVIA.
The manager of the New Sylvia mine, Thames, reports that last week one stope was going between the winze and No. 3 rise. The reef was 4ft wide, and was well mineralised. North of No. 3 rise, the reef was 2ft 6in wide, and was of fair value. South of the winze, one stope was going between No. 2 rise and the winze on the hangingwall portion of the reef. The reef was 6ft wide, and was of good value. The footwall portion of the reef was being taken out south of No. 2 rise, and colours of gold could be seen occasionally. The Norfolk reef was advanced 16ft, was 3ft wide, and slightly easier to break. GOLDEN BELT. The reef in the stope at No. 1 level, Golden Belt mine, Nevesville, was showing nice sulphide ore last week.
