HAMILTON SESSIONS. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Monday. The September sittings of the Supreme Court were opened this morning before Mr. Justice Cooper. .The grand jury returned true bills in - all cases submitted to them, as followsAllen Edwards, assault and causing actual bodily harm; George Prince, theft from the person; Marco Tarae, forgery; Arthur Winter Ludgreen, theft from a dwelling (two charges); Peter Garibaldi Merlo, forgery and perjury; George Phillips, indecent assault on a male; James Simpson, carnal knowledge. A retrial of John Johnson on ' a charge of forgery" will also be taken at ] the present sittings. Arthur Winter Ludgreen pleaded guilty to the two charges against him, and was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to run concurrently. Prisoner was also ordered to undergo reformative treatment for a period not exceeding two years. In the case against Allen Edwards the jury, after a short retirement, returned a verdict of guilty of assault so as to cause actual bodily harm. His Honor took into consideration the jury's recommendation in regard to prisoner having already been in gaol for three months, and imposed a sentence of 14 days' hard labour. He also recommended to the prisoner that he should take out a prohibition order against himself. On a charge of indecent assault on a boy at Otorohanga George Phillips, an elderly man, was found guilty without the jury retiring, and sentenced to five years' hard labour. Prisoner was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment at Auckland in 1906 for a similar offence.
