DISORDERLY SOLDIERS.
FOUR MEN CONVICTED.

Wellington, Thursday. Five members of the territorial forces and three constables came into conflict in the street last night. Four of the soldiers were, brought before the Police Court today, three being charged with obstructing a constable, one with resisting, and another with inciting to resist, and with assaulting a constable. The constable stated that he received a complaint that two men had been insulting women, and visited the locality. Ho found the men sitting on '.he kerbing. Wlvn he spoke to them one of the men attacked witness with a bayonet. The bayonet was taken from him and he was handcuffed. While the prisoner was being escorted to the police station two other soldiers' interfered, the constable was struck on the head, and the man escaped. Two more const-able? came on the scene, and the four accused were arrested. All the accused were convicted and banded over to the military authorities to be dealt with. Each was ordered to pay 5s 4d aj damages to the constable's handcuffs and shako.
