NO PARTY IN SOUTH AFRICA. London', -August 14. West End Clubs have reduced their catering to plain simple fare. The Jockey Club is advising nice clubs to hold meetings wherever possible, and avoid throwing thousands out of employment. The Council of the Actors' Association appeals to the public <<> support the theatres, where 20,000 persons are employed. Variety artists have outlined a scheme for working music-halls on the co-operative principle; otherwise they will demand full salaries. A message from Capetown states that General Hertzog is appealing to the South African Nationalists to sink all party differences and stand united during the present crisis. •'
