PRISONERS SENTENCED.
NAPIER SUPREME COURT, j [BT TELEGRAPH.— association.l Names, Friday. Lv the Supreme Court to-day Michael Johnson, charged with & criminal assault on a female, was sentenced to two years' reformative treatment William Bashford, alias Geo. Funnell, for horsi stealing, to nine months' imprisonment; Charles King- ' ston, for assault with intent, to two years; James David Clifton, for an unnatural offence, five years' reformative treatment. \ TERM FOR EMBEZZLEMENT. [BT TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dttnemn, Friday. His Honour, Mr. Justice Williams, sat this morning to pass sentence upon Emilia ; Arthur "Alexander Menzies, who had pleaded guilty in the Court below, to charges of embezzlement of money, the property of the Union Steam Ship Company. The Judge did not think it a case 'for probation, but, looking at accused's previous ' good character, and taking into consideration the fact that he had been in gaol for five weeks, said the sentence , would be three months' imprisonment.
