THE TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT.
ALTERATIONS AUTHORISED.
There are to be important extensions of the traffic department of the board. It ■was decided : (1) That applications be invited for three cadet storekeepers; (2) that the traffic manager be instructed to make any necessary rearrangements of his staff, placing a senior storekeeper in charge of H shed, and, in order to-, relieve him. of clerical work, appointing a suitable assistant in his own office "which must be at all times open to inquirers; (3) that the traffic manager's office be enlarged to provide adequate accommodation and be connected with the various sheds by private telephone. MISCELLANEOUS. THE EMPLOYERS' FEDERATION. A letter "was received from the New Zealand Employers' Federation, requesting the board to subscribe 2s 6d per cent, per annum on the amount of wages paid towards the federation's organising and defence fund. The request was declined. The board has authorised the erection of a wharf at Riverhead, at a cost not- exceeding £600. The work is to be pub in hand as soon as possibleA.sum of £40 has been set aside by the board to provide a large foghorn at the end of the Railway Wharf, to be used in bad weather. . : . '--;-■
