CHAMPIONSHIP MEETINGS, [by TELEGRAPH".— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington. Wednesday. The quarterly meeting of tho council of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association was held la.st evening. The statement of receipts and expenditure from October 1, 1911, to January 24, 1912, showed cash on deposit £60 and cash at bank £104 18s. Mr. G. A. Hurley (Wellington delegate) moved that the New Zealand championships should, as far as possible, bo held only in the four principal cities, alternately in the North and South Islands. Mr. A. L. Berry (Otago) seconded tho motion. Mr. 11. Brown (Canterbury) moved as an amendment an addition to the effect '.hat in the event of tho championship being played in another centre than Wellington the- conduct of the meeting bo delegated to the local association. The amendment was seconded by Mr. ('. White Larsons (Canterbury), but tho chairman ruled that it was not admissible. Much discussion ensued in the ruling, and a motion that the meeting disagree with tho ruling was lost. Mr. Hurley moved that the meeting be adjourned tor five .weeks, and that a special meeting of the council bo held to consider Mr, Brown's resolution. This was carried. A motion that North Island and South Island singles championships for ladies and men be established aj a cost not to exec ed 20 guineas was held over till the adjourned meeting. The application from the Hawke's Bay Association for the 1912 meeting was held over.
