A MEETING of milk suppliers was held in the Hotel Cecil on Thursday last, with tho object of fixing a uniform retail price for milk during tho summer and winter months Tho proposal was discussed at considerable length, and it is stated that several large suppliers disagreed with tho proposal, on the grounds that, a serious difficulty would arise in relation to tho difference in railway freights from various centre.?. Tho main objection to tho proposal, it is understood, was that a compact of the kind contemplated would deprive many of the local suppliers of tho best rosults of tho season's output. The meeting docided to give no information to tho press, but it was agreed that a subsequent meeting should be held. it is understood that many dairy farmers who supply milk for tho city's requirements object to the proposal.
