CUTTING UP THE LAND.

A KING COUNTRY BLOCK. [BY TEI.KGKATH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Te Kciti, Friday. The cutting up of the Pakaumau Block of Crown lands on the eastern side of the railway, between Te Kuiti and Poro-o-tarao, has just been commenced- Tho area of land affected is 30,000 acres, and it will bo cut up into sections suitable for settlement, as well as for the layingoff of roads. Tho district in practically roadless, except for the existence of a few Maori tracks. The block to be subdivided is in touch with the railway line, between Puketatu and Mangapeehi, and the furthest out sections will not probably be more than seven miles from the railway. A result that will probably be effected by th*> work in question will bo the putting through of a good main road from Te Kuiti southwards, thus lessening the gap of main road necessary to connect Auckland and Wellington.
